Earlier this year we announced that Allscripts Care Management is now part of the CarePort family. Over the past few months, our expanded team has driven innovation and inspired creative collaboration, not just for Care Management but across the entire CarePort platform. We’re excited to continue introducing our new colleagues and sharing their impact through the Take Six series.
How did you first learn about Allscripts and what drew you to the company originally?
It’s hard to believe, but I joined Allscripts over 10 years ago! I had studied abroad in Italy for graduate school and then came back and was looking for a job. I knew someone who was working on the TouchWorks EHR product, and he steered me toward an implementation consultant position. I was initially working in physicians’ offices doing TouchWorks implementations, and then I heard about a similar role with Care Management and transitioned over about a year into working for Allscripts. I was drawn to the role by the opportunity to travel, and we also had a great team, which is so important. It’s been a great fit since the beginning.
What kinds of things do you do in your role?
My job, in a nutshell, is showcasing Care Management. My main responsibility is doing product demonstrations. Our sales reps will pull me into meetings to show potential customers how the solution works—sometimes that’s on site with the client and sometimes it’s via webex, whatever works best for the situation. In the past few years, I’ve also started working more closely with our Strategic Customer Engagement team. I do things like conduct webinars, create tipsheets, basically picking up on some of the optimization work that team does.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love working directly with the potential customers and traveling all over to meet them. I’m not regionalized, so I go all over the United States, and I work with all different kinds of clients. I could work with a small organization that has just a few case managers and see how their workday and workflow is completely different than a multi-hospital system. I also really like helping people. I like jumping on a call with a client, hearing a problem that they’re having, and addressing it. Talking through issues and figuring out what works best for individual clients’ workflows is really satisfying to me.
What has it been like working with your new team (the CarePort team!) over the past few months?
My role hasn’t changed—I still do product demos—but culturally it’s been great. I live in New Hampshire and previously wasn’t very close to any main office, but now it’s a quick trip down to the Boston office. I love the fact that it’s a local company for me. When I go into the office, everyone is so friendly and so helpful. If I have questions, it’s easy to get answers. I love putting faces to names and building relationships with the team in Boston.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
We’re a big ski family, so of course living in New England is great. We love winter—I know that may sound strange, but we do! We ski every weekend. I’ve even gone to ski camps. At one point I wanted to get really good at going off jumps, and my husband is into that too. He actually works part-time at the ski mountain and we know everyone up there. I also really like to run and have done a few marathons, one each year for the past few years.
What’s a funny story about yourself you’d like to share?
Well, remember how I said I went to ski camp? Once I went to one up in Canada and managed to break my ribs on the first day. Another time, I actually broke both my arms and was in double casts for weeks. I couldn’t do anything! It wasn’t funny at the time, but I guess it is now looking back.
