Countdown to Compliance
Interoperability & Patient Access Final Rule
The CMS Interoperability and Patient Access final rules includes a section that modifies Medicare Conditions of Participation (CoPs) to include patient event notifications. As part of the new patient event notification requirement, all hospitals with an EHR – including critical access hospital and psychiatric hospitals – are required to send electronic patient notifications for patient admissions, discharges and transfers to primary care providers, physicians and post-acute providers and suppliers.
With limited time remaining until the April 30 deadline, it is essential that hospitals and health systems identify and implement a solution to ensure compliance as soon as possible. Using our compliance checklist, learn what your organization’s interoperability solution must provide to avoid risking Medicare funding.
